The sun has come

I know in blog posts of past and in various emails to individuals here and there, I have given significant recognition to the regularity of precipitation here in Puerto Montt. Hear me when I say, that I do not want to devalue or discredit the validity of said communications.... but the sun is here!

After experiencing rain fall every other day since our feet hit the Chilean soil ... the last two weeks have been filled to the brim, and overflowing with warm rays of sunshine. Now I can't say that it hasn't rained at all. Scattered throughout the week, there have only been a few quick showers in the am and pm. It's actually kinda weird not having to put on my rain jacket when when I slip outdoors for a walk. The temp drops down at night though, and we have to fire up the old wood stove.

The warm weather has brought on many new adventures. We visited the base of Volcan Osorno, and let me me say, it was quite breathtaking. Crystal clear greenblue rivers cascading down ancient rocks of grey and ash. Snow capped mountain peaks in the background.

We scampered around Isla Tenglo on Sunday afternoon, tossing frisbee and sampling the local Rubarb "Nalca" (when we could find a ripe one with out a bug infested stalk.) Lobo our fierce guard dog went along to protect us from the thousands of wirey dogs that greeted us with snarling teeth and angry barks on our path.

We are enjoying our time here in Chile and want to make the most of it. Spanish lessons every week day, and meeting new contacts and peeps as we look for opportunities for our future here. Kim has found some great leads. We are heading north to Santiago tomorrow and plan on meeting with a couple who started a small English institute last year. It will be interesting to hear how they went about it, and how things are going for them now. Kim also gave her first tutorial help to a student today, which she said was a lot of fun. We have many ideas kicking around, so we'd appreciate your prayers as we discern what's next for us.
