Warm greetings to all of you from the sunny southern hemisphere.
Kim and I just wanted to give everyone a little update on what we have been up to this past week since we left the chill of the northeast winter season behind us. We thank all of you for sending us with your love and prayers.
On Tuesday morning last week, we loaded up the Garrett minivan with enough luggage to break an elephants back, and headed East with Millard and Priscilla to meet my parents, Bob and Lois and begin our drive to the Big Apple. After a three hour drive and some stop and go traffic, we finally made it to JFK airport with plenty of time to spare. We enjoyed the company and care our parents have always blessed us with.
After multiple hugs and goodbyes, we passed through security line, boarded our flight and were on our way South. Because of our love for thriftiness… We took the flight less travelled and made our connection in Sao Paulo, Brazil, then flew on to Santiago, Chile to wait at the bus terminal with our truckload of suitcases for the 13 hour overnite bus ride to arrive at our home in Puerto Montt Chile at 8:30 Thursday morning.
While it was a long journey, with very little quality shut eye and lots of baggage bench pressing, we were extremely pleased with how well everything went, and how little trouble we ran into. We were warmly welcomed back with a delicious breakfast by Mike and Nancy Hostetter, and a pizza party in the evening from Deane and Krystal Weaver. What great family to have, while we are so far from our own.
We decided to take the rest of the weekend off, unpacking, settling in and catching up on missed hours of sleep. We hope to get back in the game this week, catching up with folks we’ve missed, and finalizing paper work for Kim’s upcoming job in March. There is also plenty to do around here, getting a house finished on Tenglo Island for the Weaver family to move into, as well as house repair and maintenance on our home before the chilly rains of winter are here.
Thank you for keeping us in your prayers and also remembering to update us on things up in your neck of the woods that we can pray for and share with our community of faith down here.
Praise the Lord for smoothe travel and the family of God. Wherever you go, you will find brothers and sisters in the Lord, and you will feel at home.
